Reg Presley RIP.

As a bunch of 25 over-enthusiastic kids on a school trip to Cheddar Caves in Somerset on 22nd May 1966, it changed my life seeing and meeting The Troggs. They were having their first album sleeve photo taken, 'From Nowhere The Troggs,' and we were one of their first teenage mobbings.
We saw them on the package tours and in concert through the years. At one show at a pub in the New Forest the audience was so sparse that lead singer Reg asked jokingly: "Did you all travel here in the same car?" We met and spoke with them in several occasions, many before drummer Ronny Bond passed.
The Troggs have been playing live without Reg since his heart attack and later lung cancer diagnosis last year, but it would be like seeing Motorhead without Lemmy, or Slade without Noddy Holder. Reg was The Troggs, and whilst original guitarist, Chris Britton is still with them, it would never be quite the same.

For the full story please read my 'Bournemouth Rocks!' book of my rock 'n' roll travels from childhood to Motorhead.
