Motorblog Sheep In Wolves Clothing (Part 17): The tracks are gradually coming in, and without making your mouths water too far in advance, they are everything I expected of them - Radically Different Motorhead Songs!
Tim Way, who started the ball rolling with Mad Dogs and 'Capricorn,' is also helping out with the studio and mastering side of the project, which I very much appreciate. Tim's partner-in-crime, Steve Shepherd, (aka Mad Dog himself), being a graphic designer, is putting his talents to coming up with some sleeve art. This is absolutely excellent, because whilst the many have said "Great album title," trying to illustrate it simply beggar's belief as far as I'm concerned, (there aren't many wolves around here wearing sheepskin coats who are keen to have their photo on a CD insert!), but I feel sure Steve will surprise us with his talent.

Motorblog Ladies & Gentlemen: Please fasten your seat belts, slick back your hair, and witness yet another 90 miles-an-hour classic from my teen years (1968) with Dave Edmunds playing his classic 'Sabre Dance' Live On Stage - no less!!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=FRIBfnTk03Q
This was originally recorded by Dave's band, Love Sculpture, and it is a pyrotechnic guitar-fest version of Aram Khachaturian's Classical composition. It is most certainly a fret-melter! And yes, he is the same Dave Edmunds who Produced the original 4 tracks at Rockfield for Motorhead.

Motorblog Sheep In Wolves' Clothing (Part 16): The time is drawing close for the tracks by the contributor's to this Fan Club CD project to be completed.
Mad Dog's 'Capricorn' and Alan Davey's Gunslinger's 'Stay Clean' are here, with The Deviant's 'Lost Johnny' and The Underbelly's 'Back At The Funny Farm' on their way, and Spirit's Burning's 'Ace Of Spades,' The Sweet Zero's '1916,' Lissy Abrahams' 'Damage Case,' Annie's 'Orgasmatron,' Girlschool with Fast Eddie Clarke's 'Metropolis' and Sonja Kristina's 'I Don't Believe A Word' are having the finishing touches added.
This is going to be quite some CD and collector's piece.

Motorblog Another Light: Yes, still fired-up with Amy Jane's arrival, and Steve, Jane and I were subjects of a freak storm when we walked out of Poole Maternity on Monday evening after seeing her again. Never known rain like it, looked like each 'drop' was an egg-cup full; and we were almost instantly soaked to the skin; which might well have been erotic for Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke in 'Nine And A Half Weeks,' but was just a pain in the arse for us.
Yesterday (Wednesday, as this Blog is based in America and is 8 hours backwards), I was floored, well, bed-ridden for the day with a sickness / headache bug, which, we were told by the doctor's, is rampant right now.
But another light came with a poem of mine being published in our local 'Free' magazine, 'The Lytchett Bay Post,' which is about this village of Upton. A copy is on its way to Sarmad to include on the site for you to, perhaps, have a giggle at?
I have quite a few written and some are with Jayne at the magazine for possible future publication? They are about Upton when I was a kid, and are, mostly, humourous, and the idea is to give folk's a giggle and maybe rekindle a few memories, or let new people to the village know what it was like here in the late 1950's / early 1960's.

Motorblog The Overkill 30th Anniversary DVD: Is being released on February 4th, and going by the current and only recently displayed Blurb on the Amazon, HMV and Play.com sites, it definitely looks like (HMV are the cheapest at £10-99 post free) it's a re-packaged version of the 'Motorhead Videobiography' release from last year.
Quite remarkably, it is still being billed as the band's 30th Anniversary / Anniversary of the Overkill album release, of which we know both to be complete nonsense!

Sweet Little Angel: Our 7th Grandchild, Amy Jane, was born yesterday, (January 19th), at 18.31, a tiny bundle at 5lbs 9ozs, she will no doubt make up for it in volume when she's hungry! At the moment, though, she is very happy and contented, as are Mum, Sabrina, and Dad, our son, Steven, and Grandson, Liam.
Happy days and a great start to 2008!

Motorblog House Of The Rising Sun: It may sound rather dated now, but in its day, Frijid Pink's version certainly ripped up the airwaves! http://youtube.com/watch?v=t40INnb6DnY&feature=related

Motorblog A True Story: On July 20th 1969, as Commander of the Apollo 11 lunar module, Neil Armstrong was the first person to set foot on the Moon; and his famous first words were: "That's one small step for man, one giant step for mankind," and they were televised to Earth and heard by millions of people.
But just before he re-entered the Lander, he made the remark, "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky." Many people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet cosmonaut. However, upon checking, there was no Gorsky in either the Russian or American space programmes.
Over the years, many people questioned Armstrong as to what "Good luck, Mr. Gorsky" had meant, but Armstrong always just smiled.
On July 5th 1995, in Tampa Bay, Florida, whilst answering questions following a speech, a reporter brought up the 26 year old question once again. Mr. Gorsky had, apparently, died, so Armstrong felt he could now answer it.
In 1938, when he was a kid in a small Midwest town, he was playing baseball with a friend in the back yard. His friend hit the ball, which landed in his neighbour's yard by the bedroom window. His neighbour's were Mr. & Mrs. Gorsky
As he leaned down to pick up the ball, young Armstrong heard Mrs. Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky: "Sex! You want sex?! You'll get sex whan that kid next door walks on the Moon!"

Motorblog Whun Hundred And Ayteee: Great to have the darts on TV again last week, and the semi's and finals on Saturday and Sunday. But those 2 finalists were so serious and focussed, almost like assassins, it made what should have been an exciting final quite boring; which was a shame. It's much better having players being a bit more theatrical and showing some emotion during the game. Pleased the Welshman won, out of the two, the Australian was more serious, focussed, boring and experienced, (a grand master, no less), so nice that he had a good trouncing by a 'young upstart.'

Motorblog Who Do You Love?: This track, by a band named Juicy Lucy, is from 1969, and much like previous postings of The Who's 'I Can See For Miles' and Love's '7 & 7 Is,' 'Who Do You Love' was and is one of those 90-mile-an-hour-songs from my youth. As is demonstrated by all three tracks, they were in expectation of a band who could provide adrenaline-pumping music on a regular, song-after-song basis, but I would have to wait until October 22nd, 1978, to see Motorhead at Poole Arts Centre, to find such a band.
In the meantime, here's the fabulous Juicy Lucy http://youtube.com/watch?v=jXmi6MokHsw

Motorblog Motorhead Tour Dates: Other than the Rock Am Ring Festival in June, there are no other Motorhead dates for 2008 available at present, you will see them here when there are.
Lemmy, of course, with his insatiable desire to keep on the road, has just started playing three dates with The Head Cat - January 10th at The Independant, San Francisco, January 11th El Corazon in Seattle and January 12th Dantes in Portland.
According to the Mikkey Dee interview, posted within this Blog last month, the band are or will be starting to record a new album any time now. Expectations will be high after Inferno and Kiss Of Death, but Motorhead have never let us down yet, and I can't think why they would start to do so now, so be prepared to be amazed yet again!

Motorblog World Without End?: It must be increasingly difficult for the News media these days with the CO2 pollution problems. On the one hand, BBC News' science correspondant, Laurie McGinty, is almost continually on-screen reporting on the melting ice caps and the general fug we are polluting the air we rely on to live. On the very next feature, they show the US Elections with the entourage of cars and coaches only adding to the problem. It's a bit like the 'Clever-Dumb-Balance' on that credit card ad.
Likewise, on our 'Meridian Tonight' regional programme here in the South of England, they ran a feature asking us to think twice about taking that holiday abroad, as airplanes are one of the biggest causes of pollution and we'd be doing the environment a huge favour if we didn't fly off to the sun, sea and sand, but stayed here in the cold, rain and frost instead.
The programmes' male host 'disappears' from time to time and returns with a lovely sun tan. So I emailed to say their two features were the pot calling the kettle black, (the Clever-Dumb-Balance again), and said presenter should make a stand by shredding, (not burning - as it would add to the pollution!), his Passport live on-air and promise he would uphold the relevant feature and not fly away for a tan-top-up in the future.
My email received the reply: 'Thank you for your comments, which have been noted.'
They really don't give a toss, do they!
They're paying lip-service and taking their pay at the end of each month just like everyone else.

Motorblog Motorhead 'Overkill' 30th Anniversary Edition DVD: Local friend / MHB Eddie Evans pointed out this latest double-DVD set, to be released on February 4th. Search 'Motorhead Overkill' in the DVD section on Amazon and you'll find it, with the cover illustration. This is probably the 'No Sleep 'til Hammersmith' double set mentioned on page 19 in Fanzine 80, but it's been re-titled, and is no doubt the re-hash of the re-hash of the 'Inside Motorhead' and the 'Videobiography' DVD's; so, it'll be for 'completists' only! It's £12-74 at present and available on pre-order.
Erm, 'scuse me for being thick, but wasn't 'Overkill' released in 1979, making it 30 years old next year!
Thanks, Eddie.

Motorblog A Few Fireworks: Went off around here at Midnight, thankfully, short-lived, as the 19.5 year old cat hates them and still hides under the bed.
Another year out, another year in; same s**t but we're 12 months older, and made only worse being paid 10 days early, so January will be its usual cold, bleak, l-o-n-g self.
February will cheer us up, though, as the evenings start drawing out and the faint glimmer of another summer starts twinkling on the horizon of our lives.
Nil Illegitimum Carborundum.
Cliched, but it still fits the occasion.
